Stunning views of Kilimanjaro & hiking options

Pros: The location is absolutely amazing with views of the Kilimanjaro! Our bedroom had views of the mountain and also the outdoor porch area where you have your breakfast has this stunning view. They also offer lunch and dinner for 10$ per meal per person. Also they offer pick up from and to the airport. We did a hike with them to the Materuni waterfalls which was a great experience. You walk from the hotel to the waterfall and back and it takes about 4 hours. Definitely recommend this hike!

Cons: The credit card payment machine was broken so we had to pay in cash so be aware of this.

Great view of Mt Kilimanjaro

Pros: This is a lovely place. The lovely roof Terrace looks straight at Mount Kilimanjaro and some rooms even face the mountain. The staff are lovely, the room was comfortable and I had the best hot shower in weeks. The owner is helpful and knowledgeable and can arrange many trips and excursions.

Beautiful and genuine family stay

Pros: The highlight here is that you are staying with a very kind, warm and good hearted people in the heart of the beautiful Kilimanjaro foothills. It is not a luxurious stay, the house is comfy but simple but that’s the whole point. You’ll be staying with a genuine, warm and welcoming family, local Chaga people, and they will go above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of and feeling at home. Views of Mt Kili are amazing, and the hike to the Materuni waterfall is amazing. You’ll be also supporting the local tribe by staying here as Victor runs local charity with part of the income from the guesthouse and tours. Thank you Beatus, Jane, Paul and Victor. Amazing friendly and beautiful

Pros: I recently stayed at Shimbwe Meadows Home and had an excellent experience. The hotel’s location is perfect — close to Kilimanjaro mountain in a quiet area, ensuring peaceful nights. The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional,always ready to assist with any request. Check‑in was swift and hassle‑free. My room was ,clean, and tastefully decorated in African style. It has a comfortable bed, and a well‑appointed bathroom. The daily housekeeping was thorough and discreet. Overall, Shimbwe Meadows Home exceeded my expectations. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to others.

Pros: The stay was wonderful! I was warmly welcomed and felt like part of a family. The food was great, and the view of Mount Kilimanjaro was amazing. Everyone was very helpful, and there were plenty of interesting tours to join. I learned a lot about village life, local history, plants, and animals.Every night, we had a great bonfire. A big thank you to all of you!

Pros: The location is great and we had a great guide with us everywhere we went. The staff is exceptional and the food is good. Our room was very nice and the view is spectacular.

Cons: It was a bit difficult to get there, but the road was being repaired.

Pros: The stay was exceptional, with their services. This is the kind of stays that change your life. We were a family of 4. We were very well taken care of by Beatrice, the manager. We were supposed to go for materuni hike, but unfortunately we were not able to do it. Yet, we didnt regret a bit. Had good company of other guests. The food was phenomenal. The dinner was buffet with swhili food. On beautifully set table where all the guests sit together and eat. We all had a great time. In the morning, janet,one of the staff, showed us around the village and showed us some animals, which my kids thoroughly enjoyed. They plucked some fresh avocados and gifted us. Another staff, braided my girls hair. These are core memories for them. Thank you.
